Project Overview

Our revolutionary new Snap Pack
To make our multipacks more sustainable, we have introduced our new Snap Pack, which reduces plastic usage through innovative glue technology.

Organisation

Carlsberg & NMP Systems GmbH

Project Context

Snap pack has been three years underway and developed together with NMP Systems GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of KHS.

Less is more. Snap pack uses minimal plastic and therefore reduces the risk of waste. Using less material also reduces CO2 emissions and reliance on fossil fuel-based packaging materials such as plastic.

Project Innovation

Carlsberg's snap pack will significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste, and we look forward to giving our consumers better beer experiences with less environmental impact.

The new snap=pack packaging will result in:
- Up to 76% reduction in plastic usage compared to previous multipacks
- 1200 tonnes saved anually when all of our 4-, 6- and 8-packs have been converted
- 1200 tonnes saved annually is the equivalent of 60 million plastic bags

Social design applies a design methodology and intervention to tighten the social fabric that holds us together. Addressing issues of social inequality, such as poverty or social isolation, social design is the pathway to a more just and sustainable society. Community-oriented design is a human-centered and participatory design practice that emphasises the betterment of local communities through the improvement of public facilities, equipment, identity and experience.

The object category celebrates creative and innovative design for an object or product. Consideration is given according to the design context and need, design innovation and the application of human centred design principles.
