Project Overview

The official hard hat solution for Microsoft HoloLens. Trimble has introduced Trimble Connect for HoloLens and a new hard hat solution for mixed reality headset that improves the utility of technology for practical field applications.

With two-way communication to the Trimble Connect cloud, users always have the most up-to-date data on their site, literally.

Project Context

Trimble Connect for HoloLens utilizes mixed reality for project coordination by providing precise alignment of holographic data on the job site, enabling workers to review their models overlaid in the context of the physical environment.

Mixed Reality technology blends real-world objects with digital content, interactively, and in real-time. Together with holographic technology, it brings the models out of the screen and helps people efficiently interpret physical and digital information, and the spatial relations between them.

The projected holograms can appear life-like and can move, be shaped, and change according to interaction with the user or the physical environment. Gestures, gaze and voice commands can be used to navigate and control the presented content.

Project Innovation

Mixed Reality and holographic technology extends the models from the screen and provide users the ability to engage and interact with design data more intuitively.

Moreover, unleashing the 3D model democratizes the data by offering a natural way to experience and understand the design. While years of education and practice might train architects and structural engineers to visualize their designs in 3D, other stakeholders have a hard time deciphering them.

Commercial projects recognises that design is the means to create meaningful experiences for users, create value for people and drive profit for businesses.

All systems are designed to serve a purpose – and that purpose is to serve people. Systems design optimises systems performance by systematically focusing on the human component - human capacities, abilities, limitations and aspirations.
