Project

The Race Yourself app will allow casual fitness users to challenge their friends or themselves whilst running or cycling. Whilst on a run or cycle, we will use audio feedback to indicate whether the person is in front or behind the 'virtual' runner you are competing against. Add a Google Glass and the race becomes an augmented reality challenge, where the racer can see virtual opponents in real time overlaid on their environment.

Project Brief

As individuals passionate about fitness, we knew exercise could be more exciting than just simple stats. Our vision is to service the needs of the hundreds of millions of under-motivated runners and cyclists by making their workout engaging and competitive.

Project Need

Our innovation comes from the use and integration with wearable devices such as the new Samsung Gear 2 and Google Glass. We've linked our mobile application to these devices, helping to take advantage of the new upcoming trend of wearable devices.

We have the most advanced 3D augmented reality software ever created for Google Glass, coupled with advanced GPS and sensor fusion algorithms creating the most accurate tracking experience for any outdoor exersize.

We innovate the fitness training process by using the habit loop to motivate the user to compete for variable rewards, unlock new games and content through sweating - or they can just pay to unlock content using a freemium model proven by online gaming giants like King and Zynga.

User Experience

From Casual to Elite levels of fitness, we start with the simple premise that exercising with friends is just more fun. The mobile app is the hub that allows users to connect with their friends if they are the "socializer" type and challenge them to races. Users can also race their own avatar, or virtual opponents for specific workouts or if they are less comfortable with direct competition - after all we arent all into the win/lose but love the taking part.

The apps have been co-created with users from all over the world, we run weekly test days in the gym and "eat our own dogfood" by working out in regents park most days using our own app

Project Marketing

Our marketing strategy is three-fold:

Firstly, Race Yourself is designed to be social at it's very core. One of the app's unique abilities is to allow the user to challenge their friends and peers thus allowing a conversation to take place where the Race Yourself app is the platform they go to to allow this to happen.

Secondly, we will be targeting our target market via social media, namely Facebook. Our aim is to reach fitness users who are bored of using existing fitness apps and are looking for an app that motivates them.

Thirdly...

Project Privacy

We alert users to all data being accessed via social logins, and only use the data necessary to be able to invite friends and share race results to their wall.
We store passwords in an encrypted keystore server side and all server side content and transmissions are using SSL encryption.
