Project Overview

The home of the future has arrived in Sydney. Situated in Wentworth Point, just 16 kilometres west of the CBD, and within close proximity to the business hub of Parramatta, One The Waterfront has been expertly designed to be a luxury haven which beautifully blends easy living with state-of-the-art home automation, flawless finishes and fixtures and unrivalled onsite amenities, the likes of which are usually reserved for 6-star resorts.
Set out over a sprawling 25,575m2 site, this development is aesthetically and architecturally without comparison. Embracing the natural splendour of its surrounds, One The Waterfront is flanked by tranquil waterways and lush expanses of greenery with 6,106m2 of publicly accessible space, 7,736m² of communal space and 13,842m2 of wide open spaces – more than the 6,394m2 the ADG requires. Coupled with its cutting-edge design, it raises the bar on contemporary residential living, seamlessly fusing nature, architecture and exclusive on-site leisure in one extraordinary address.
Affording residents the hotel quality service they deserve in their everyday life, One The Waterfront also offers a dedicated Concierge service along with the exclusive “Club One” and stunning facilities including an onsite indoor theatre, open-air cinema, luxury lounge, bar, dining and entertainment areas, as well as the superb Sky Park and leisure zones.

Project Brief

One The Waterfront is crafted, contemporary and connected. These three key components underpin the development and deliver a rich, visual aesthetic and feat of architecture. Combining clear and bronze tinted glazing, bronze metallic frames and gold finished vertical aluminium louvres which amplify the sun and animate the facades, this is an exterior like no other. Internally, an emphasis has been placed on being as progressive as possible as well as delivering a sought-after lifestyle. Boasting the latest innovations in home automation, along with elegant stone and stainless-steel finishes, these apartments deliver high-tech inclusions as ground-breaking as state-of-the-art fibre optic network through to the simple genius which is the addition of parcel lockers on site.
Being able to attract the attention of a variety of potential buyers was also of importance in compiling the brief for One The Waterfront. We understand well the best designs are those which offer a mix of apartment sizes, providing housing choice for different demographics and budgets. To this end, there are 150 apartments in Stage 2 with a mix of 44 (29.3%) x 1 bed and 1 bed + study; 93 (62%) x 2 bed; and 13 x 3 bed (8.7%).
Finally, to fully complement the lifestyle of our residents, we blurred the architectural boundaries outdoors. By blending nature with the built environment, we’ve created a lively, connected and healthy atmosphere where the stresses of city living dissolve, leaving time for the things that really matter – community, engagement, and connecting with friends and family.

Project Innovation/Need

Aesthetically, conceptually, and architecturally, One The Waterfront is without comparison and sets a new standard in technologically advanced, luxury apartment living in Sydney.
It’s no secret we lead increasingly busy lives; One The Waterfront, rises up to embrace this challenge and affords a solution to perfectly complement the fast-paced lifestyles we lead today. The exclusive Club One is a concept specifically tailored to counter the modern constraints we face, as well as allow us to indulge in onsite extravagances without needing to even leave home. Boasting a unique array of amenities, including a concierge, indoor theatre and open-air cinema, luxury lounge, bar, dining and entertainment areas, as well as the superb Sky Park and leisure zones, this is 21st century residential apartment living which delivers all the benefits of an exclusive, resort style lifestyle.
We’ve also recognised the necessity that is smart-living in our everyday lives. For One The Waterfront, the latest technology is standard – not an extra feature for the fortunate few. State-of-the-art home automation, fibre optics and Push technology deliver unrivalled high-speed connectivity to all residents, delivering an unparalleled connectivity and control in their lives.
Selecting an ideal location for residents was also vital. Perched on the water, with Australia’s largest urban parklands in its midst, we also wanted to continue the feeling of European ambience One The Waterfront conjures up. Nestled next to The Piazza, residents enjoy upmarket dining and shopping, along with regular public transport options (ferries, buses and trains) all close by.

Design Challenge

With such a large-scale development, covering an incredible 25,575m2, it was always going to be a challenge to still deliver the essence of cosy, communal living over such a sprawling site – offering not just an apartment, but a ‘home’.
To this end, the challenge consisted of achieving a design which featured good proportions and a balanced composition of elements, reflecting the internal layout and structure. It was also crucial to use a variety of materials, colours and textures to create a visual appearance which fused effortlessly with the streetscape and natural surrounds.
It was also important to understand the needs of the modern executive, retired couple or young family who would be attracted to buying into One The Waterfront. With access to social and recreational activities vital for our collective health and wellbeing, selecting a location which was family friendly and promoted an active lifestyle, while still delivered ease of access to public transport for CBD employees and a secure location for those living out their golden years in low maintenance style, meeting all these market needs could prove tricky.
However, by harnessing the latest in technology, promoting progressive living and selecting a complementary location, we were able to create One The Waterfront. Boasting an ideal blend of luxury living with stunning, European inspired surrounds and access to an array of bespoke onsite
facilities normally reserved for 6-star resorts, we’ve risen up to our challenges and ensured “there’s no place like home” for all of our residents.

Sustainability

Wentworth Point, nestled on the western shore of Homebush Bay, is a place of natural beauty. Therefore, it was critical to offer residents of One The Waterfront a cost effective, yet luxury lifestyle which didn’t negatively impact the natural environment.
By fusing sustainable practices within the processes of construction and interior design, we were able make this development a standout in terms of sustainability.
Embracing ESD principles, especially passive solar design, building techniques and orientation which promoted natural cross ventilation and sunlight into the primary living spaces and external living areas were also maximised. This resulted in a reduction of reliance on technology for heating and cooling, not only reducing the carbon footprint of the development but also easing the cost of living on occupants. Energy efficient appliances and water efficient devices (designed to minimise water consumption) were also installed along with external water tanks, with the purpose of retaining and reusing stormwater for irrigation.
On completion, One The Waterfront provides 37.5% public open space, (Amalfi Drive and Bay Park), 2,893m2 communal open space to the courtyards (in addition to communal open space provided in stage 1) and 21% deep soil (Bay Park and Bennelong Parkway setback) which is significantly above the minimum requirement of the ADG. This both honours the natural beauty of the land as well as creates a sustainable, stunning and superior residential and parkland precinct for residents of One The Waterfront.
