Project Overview
Tinybeans is the easiest way for busy parents to create and share a beautiful record of their children's lives.
By encouraging parents to simply take a photo of their children each day, Tinybeans helps parents create a timeless keepsake that they can pass on to their children and share with their family and friends, one day at a time.

Project Brief
Parents often want to create a baby journal but are too busy to do so. With all the cooking, washing up, and dirty nappies, it's easy to understand why.
This is why the primary design goal for Tinybeans is that it has to be super easy to use and require the minimal of effort from the parent.
Using the mobile app (or the web site) the parent takes one or more photos a day of their children. These photos are automatically uploaded to an online calendar and becomes part of a beautiful record of the children's lives that can be shared with invited friends and family. The parent can also allow others to contribute to the same album - perfect for when one parent is at work or away.
The invited friends and family can also be automatically emailed whenever the journal is updated. This is like subscribing to a newsletter of you kids!
Finally, the other major design goal is that the journal has to look beautiful. By representing the daily photos in a calendar format, even seemingly mundane everyday photos come to life as they create a collage of the children's lives. The calendar truly embodies Tinybeans' tagline of "Watch your children grow".
Project Innovation / Need
Whilst there are other baby journal apps in the market, they all try to reproduce the physical baby journals. The problem with this is that they all require a lot of effort from the parent and more often than not they're left gathering dust.
Tinybeans adopts the approach of "a little is better than nothing" - by only asking the parents to take a photo daily, the parents only have to commit a few minutes each day and with the visual reward of seeing their journal grow more and more beautiful each day the parents are more likely to keep the habit going.
User Experience
The user experience is deliberately simple. To populate the journal, the parent only has to press the "add moment" button to upload a photo each day. This automatically uploads to the web calendar which really shows off the beauty of the photos. If the parent has shared the journal, these friends and family can opt to receive email notifications and can leave comment on the photos.
We find that grandparents in particular love Tinybeans, as for the first time they have a window into their grandchildren's daily lives.
Project Marketing
We have only just launched weeks ago and our only marketing thus far has been via social media; mummy bloggers; and word-of-mouth. Despite this low-key approach we're growing fast and are now getting 1000+ photos uploaded each day.
