Project Overview

Heron Island is known for the vast range of wildlife that families can explore and interact with. We developed the brand essence ‘Nature’s Wonderland’ and then created a brand symbol that describes the wildlife that is present on the land and in the surrounding ocean. The circular form of the symbol recalls a swirling vortex of circling fish and reflects the personality of the brand – vibrant, natural and active.

Project Brief

This one of a kind island experience is known for its vast range of wildlife that families can explore and interact with. We were briefed to bring this notion to life in a new brand identity including a positioning line that will help it stand apart from other barrier reef islands. We created the strap-line ‘Natures Wonderland’ to express the unique benefit of the island and developed a distinctive icon that showcases the wildlife that is present on the land and in the surrounding ocean. The island is renowned for its turtles and therefore we made this animal central to the icon but this symbol can be deconstructed to break out individual wildlife and used to promote different aspects of the island.

Project Need

Visually bring to life the notion of ‘Natures Wonderland’ for one of Australia’s leading Island experiences. The previous brand identity only featured a turtle but the new identity needed to capture the vast range of wildlife on the island in a playful and memorable way. The colour blue was used as direct reference to the ocean and also delivers on the desired brand personality of Vibrant, Natural, Active and family friendly. The icon is rich in detail therefore the typeface is simple, friendly and uncomplicated.

Design Challenge

To create an identity that captures the islands unique offering and be versatile so elements of the identity can be extracted and used to promote certain wildlife experiences. The identity also needed to hero the primary wildlife experiences – turtles.

Sustainability

We encourage our clients to always print on sustainable materials.
