DRIVENxDESIGN - $3.4 billion of designed projects were recognised at the 2016 Melbourne Design Awards presentation at a cocktail function at The Carlton.

"This year’s Melbourne Design Awards demonstrates just how important design is to the Melbourne economy with projects totalling more than $3.4 billion recognised,” Melbourne Design Awards and DRIVENxDESIGN Founder Mark Bergin said.

There were stand out projects in all categories however the award for overall Design Champion went to Mirvac for the company’s commitment to design seen through the quality and volume of work in this year’s awards program.

Along with the Design Champion, the Best Studio categories were announced. The Best Studio less than 5 was awarded to Farrah Design, Emote Digital took away the Best Studio 5 to 20 category, and Digital Agency Monkii the Best Studio 20+. The best studio winner is an aggregate score across unique nominated projects in the awards.

In total 106 awards (45 gold and 61 silver) were presented across the design disciplines of Space, Object, Visual and Experience.

''Year on year we see a growing sophistication in the Melbourne design marketplace. This year is no exception.

“The courage demonstrated by clients and creative teams is the powerhouse behind a strong pool of award winners,” Mr Bergin added.
