Project Brief

The building itself originally comes with many great-sized window installations for the residents to enjoy the best cityscape, which can be the highlights of many corners. The interior is thus designed with neat lines and straight perpendicular cuts to match with the surroundings. In addition, the application of hidden doors with special coating effect, exquisite wallpapers, contribute to the fluid and even surfaces that adds a delicate rhythm to the ambience.
The overall common area is arranged as open-plan space, divided through the subconscious effect caused by the location of the center beam, sofa back, and changes of wallpapers. Furthermore, the reflective materials such as stone, tiles, mirrors allow sunlight to travel through each corner, expanding the spatial perception.

Project Innovation/Need

The ceiling is decorated with golden brushed effect metal plates between the height differences. With the strip lights embedded, the streaming glow builds layer upon layer to create interesting changes with contrast. A low-profile fineness frames the space while expanding the depth of the spatial height upwards. Vertical light strips of the display shelving intersect with horizontal fluidity, which serves as a guide to lead the visual attention.
The squarish sofa with half side opens to the entrance welcomes guests and family members to come home. The designer applies a cool-gray palette and stone materials as the basis that offer a generous characteristic to the space. On the other side of the space, the slightly curved dining table contrasts with the square of the living room, creating a focus, sense of unity and gathering of the common area.

Design Challenge

While the wooden flooring brings in the sense of comfortable softness to the private area, the delicate wallpapers with multiple combinations of the main palette reduces the possibility of monochrome situations. The use of lattice, metal plates, vertical lights, and curtains all contribute to an interesting linear effect that extends the spatial perception. In addition, the black metallic embellishment integrated with golden skirting boards offer a sense of framing with details. The independent private closet is designed similar to department store counters with use of tinted glass panels, fabric laminated glass panels and golden aluminum door frames.

Sustainability

The designer introduces a smart distribution system of light switches to the house for the residents to live a more convenient life while minimizing the unnecessary waste. These setups were installed as a part of the smart building design, which allows these pieces to be moved or even uninstalled without tearing down the ceiling. The wallpapers are applied with low-formaldehyde, lowing the hazardous substances harmful to the human body.
