Project Overview
In this project, a simple and pure design language is used to create much room for imagination, which is also the original intention of the design team.
All the existing walls that could be dismantled were demolished, so as to reorganize the spatial pattern and functional divisions based on practical needs.
The design creates a reasonable and effective circulation route, which shows respect and care for people and reveal the thinking about time and space.
Leaving blank is an artistic design method, which contains the philosophy of life. Neat and simple lines not only organize the order of light and shadows, but also help create a pure, tranquil and poetic living environment. Concise and orderly lines help segment and outline spatial surfaces and forms. The designers also selected simple materials with pure textures and colors in order to create a lovely living space in which family members can enhance emotions.

Project Brief
All the existing walls that could be dismantled were demolished, so as to reorganize the spatial pattern and functional divisions based on practical needs. The bedroom next to the living room was transformed into a dining area and a multifunctional area, thereby endowing the space more possibilities. The tatami room is versatile, which can be used as guestroom, tea room, family activity room and entertainment space, etc.
TV wall was shaken off to connect and integrate the living room and dining area into a whole. The long table in the dining area serves as a desk and a tea table, which can switch functions freely at different scenes.
Cabinets featuring dark gray wood veneers help partition public and private spaces. Behind a row of hidden doors are lockers, bookshelves, multifunctional room and the master bedroom, while on the other side of the wooden veneers is the sink.
The secondary bathroom was divided into two independent areas, making it more convenient and efficient. The girl’s room is next to a public sink.
In the master bedroom, the walk-in closet and the bathroom were reorganized. Bathtub, shower stall, toilet, sink were rearranged in the space. Without obvious boundaries, the bed area, bathroom and walk-in closet were integrated into one.
The tatami room can be also used as study, guest room, tea room and leisure space, which greatly enhances the utilization and flexibility of space .
Project Need

The design discards redundant decorations to simplify the space and life. Simple light and shadows are used to vitalize the space and interpret the spirit of place.
Design Challenge
Since the project was on the 8th floor and beside the urban expressway, it was difficult to solve the problem of noise. Then, the place of bathroom was limited after the reorganization so that the drainage was another difficulty.
Sustainability
Eco-friendly materials were used as many as possible for the construction of the project such as the solid wood composite floors with better stability, which overcome the drawback of hydroexpansion. In addition, the environmentally friendly Benjamin Moore paint was also applied to the project.

Open to all international projects this award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors, with consideration given to space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes, aesthetic presentation and functionality. Consideration also given to space allocation, traffic flow, building services, lighting, fixtures, flooring, colours, furnishings and surface finishes.
