Project Brief

A comfortable house can relieve residents’ bodies and release their spirit. Whenever there is a need to pursue a higher quality of life where daily needs are sustainable, there is nothing more important than building a safe, comfortable, and permanent house.

Project Innovation/Need

The TV wall is made of recyclable crossties consistent with the main wall and the brown brick wall behind the caramel sofa, which increases the roughness of nature. The balcony is also decorated with the crossties the same with the TV wall, a small relaxing corner. Behind the TV wall is a reading space for the owner, which is extended with lines without pressure. The floor is covered with a metal board, distinguished from other area yet integral to the wooden theme by contrast. Moving to the dining space. A large area for storage, which extends the wooden theme of crosstie texture, is beside the dining table. The trunk decoration shows how important the owner thinks to have a home for children to grow up.

Design Challenge

To satisfy the owner’s need for storage, both the living room and kitchen are furnished with abundant storage. An L-shaped shoe closet, decorated with the rock of archaizing texture and white metal, is available at the entrance. An extensive wooden ceiling reveals the warmth of a Japanese-style home.

Sustainability

All rooms are applied with a green building material certified latex paint that is clean, eco-friendly, and with low volatile organic chemicals. The energy recovery ventilator is installed to filter PM 2.5 particles in order to ensure safe air circulation. The divisions are moisture-resistant gypsum bricks: soundproof, no cracking, and recyclable in the future. The wall between the study room and the corridor is painted with diatomaceous earth similar to cement texture, which can moderate moisture, improve air quality, and visually enhance the artistic beauty. Today, environmental issues are increasingly severe, and environmental consciousness grows stronger. Therefore, this case is managed to reduce the waste of resources by purifying and filtering the ventilation, and by reusing crossties for interior decoration, instead of overusing artificial materials.
