This pavilion was built in the fishing port of Chiayi, a prosperous fishing city in Taiwan, as a recreational space and an entrance image for welcoming tourists.

Project Brief

In the marine environment of Taiwan, we have a wealth of marine life, including fish, shrimp, crabs, shellfish, etc. The artist is fascinated by the beauty of its shape and organic appearance. He combined various marine biological features, using bamboo, wood and rope to build and weave the pavilion.

The pavilion has a special appearance and sense of ceremony. When night falls, it will flicker up and down with the breathing rate like a behemoth that wakes up during the night. It will lead the islanders into the Dragon Palace in the mysterious ocean fairy tale.

Project Innovation/Need

Studio Kao Gong Ji Co., Ltd. will spend more than half of the time finding the right topic, and will definitely apply the technique of an old object, which has become the artist's characteristic.

Design Challenge

It is a new challenge every time how to reserved the traditional craftsmanship that fades quickly, merge the traditional crafts with each other, and reappear in a new shape.

Sustainability

In response to a short-lived exhibition, the artist created each installation art. In addition to being placed for a long time, it can also be recycled after a short stunning, the work is broken down, the materials are returned to the earth, and the Return these items to the community.
