Project Overview

For the external looks of the building, the concept of borderless painting is designed on the side of the building via the construction of colored glass bricks, which can be seen clearly from the Sun Moon Lake harbor faraway. At night, the projection of light from the interior further accentuates the characteristics of the capsule hotel, sculptured as the unique sign logo.

Project Brief

This project is located by the internationally renowned tourist attraction, the Sun Moon Lake, with approximately 200m2 of the base area, the remaining area for accommodation is about 397m2 excluding floors 1-2 used as public facilities, where 99 cabins of capsule hotels are designed, each cabin with an independent door and air-conditioner, while light and night light, as well as power outlets are available inside the capsule cabin.

Project Innovation/Need

Upon entering inside, the raised performance hall welcomes you when stepping into the lobby offers one with the illusion of being in a performance center. The coarse architectural concrete with red brick wall elements, the black expanded iron mesh as well as the black windows establish the industrial trend spatial tone, which is decorated with the warmth of Taiwan Fir and the raised green plant wall, thereby turning the ambience of the personalized industrial trend space to offer more comfort!

Design Challenge

The use of sustainable materials in the building structure is a matter of vital significance, which is often merely one of the principles during the overall constructional process, yet is capable of stimulating the residents’ body and mind health, as well as environmental sustainability. Such space is capable of accommodating a hundred people while providing travelers with the desired space for adventure!

The use of energy-saving and eco-friendly building materials should be conducted to construct an ecological building and to create a natural and wonderful foundation for the human environment in coordination with the natural environment.

Sustainability

In response to the current eco-friendly principles, the designer has selected cabinets and the TV wall produced with eco-friendly green building materials mark, using plywood materials that can be removed and recycled, thereby eliminating the possibility of secondary pollution. Adhering to the core principle of green buildings, it is based on the highest standards of sustainable utilization and of being environmental-friendly, allowing the building itself to accomplish functions including energy-reduction, health and does not waste out natural resources in the aspects of the design, the structure and the construction materials.




This award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors, with consideration given to space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes, aesthetic presentation and functionality. Consideration also given to space allocation, traffic flow, building services, lighting, fixtures, flooring, colours, furnishings and surface finishes.
