Project Overview

Jinzhong Kylin Mansion Hushan Art Gallery, with its unique design perspective and new expression form, boldly integrates Chinese aesthetics with modern architectural techniques. In the name of poetic Oriental, the designer tries to use the ancient simplicity and calm demeanor of oriental aesthetics to inject a touch of grace and elegance into the modern lifestyle. The sales center will be transformed into a theme club of book bar in the later period. The designer also fully considered the response to the functions of the later club when designing this case in order to reduce the costs of secondary design and transformation. For emphasizing the comfortable and tranquility of east life, the designer refers to the theory of flowing space by Smith Van Der Rohe, and minimized the partition of the blocking space, so that the space is simply and necessarily divided instead of being divided into independent individuals according to functions.

Project Brief

The entire mansion has sinuous beauty based on the smooth flow of lines. Visitors often cannot experience the entire beauty at a time and are attracted to explore more. Starting from the welcome hall, a few ancient meanings are painted by a large area of mahogany color. And the gentle texture of the marble shadow wall is like a slowly spreading landscape painting which looks like the twilight, the rain, and the continuous mountains. The texture of modern materials is so ingeniously connected to the emotions of space while the architectural vocabulary is naturally used like antelope hanging horns. It is appropriate to understand the main purpose of eastern aesthetics which "Ideal conditions are integrated into the feelings and the landscape into the subjects." Here, you can feel certain ancient charm, some meditation and more leisure as if there are feelings beyond the scenery, voice beyond the words and the ideal condition beyond the picture. A rosewood fake pine in the corner is the best silent commentary for this poetic picture.
Taken the case as the whole, a book-house-themed club has been created with a high degree of forward-looking and artistic characteristics. By using "world language" and "east situation”, the beauty beyond the space has been created, distinguishing from any existing east expression on the market. Seamlessly transforming between the spirit renouncing the world and the body naturalizing the world,

Project Need

The designer has the unique understanding of the use of light and shadow. Whether it is the barbed wires and fine wooden fences in the corridor, the interweaving of light and shadow with fake pines in the banquet hall, you can taste a touch of delicateness and dim beauty. Taking a stroll here, you may feel like walking by the long river of history to experience the heritage of Chinese civilization for thousands of years.
As a homage to Italian prominent designer Carlo Scarpa, the sunken talking pit shows the poetic rhythm by abstracting the smooth lines. It reflects a unique beauty with the intersection of space and structure in a limited space is explored and geometric prototypes and lines reorganized.
All of the above details inspire visitors to continuously experience richer artistic interest than the actual scene with the full scheduling of subjective. It exactly is the east aesthetics where beauty goes from body to heart, from feelings to spirit.

Design Challenge

By connecting most spaces, it breaks the sense of stasis between regional transitions, eliminates the blockage and closure between regions, and blurs the definition of different functional areas, so that naturally creates the necessary sense of leisure and relaxation for the club.
In a closed and open space, the designer consciously combines humanities with nature, focusing on creating a perfect ideal conduction with scenery here. The display wall outside the book bar is filled with all kinds of art, which can naturally introduce a fragrance of book into the room from the outside. In the book bar, a thin wooden fence is used as a partition, as that it continues to the external space in order. The texture of the carpet and the fine wooden fence partition seamlessly blend together, and the visual extension on the plane expands the depth of the space. As a result, visitors produce imagination about appreciating the ancient and the modern.

Sustainability

After the end of the sales period, the sales office space will restore its original shop function. In order to avoid the huge waste caused by the secondary demolition and renovation, the designer considered the energy conservation and environmental protection and the sustainable use of the space, and at the beginning of the design, the space was divided into two parts, and the part of the street shop was planned as the reception display space, which can be directly restored after the end of the exhibition period.
The back part of the garden is arranged as a leisure and entertainment space. After it is closed with the corridor of the first half, the space and functional design are all retained. After the user officially moves in, it will become a public club.
The furniture fully considers the safety and comfort needs of the elderly and children. The materials are skin friendly, and the edges are smooth without sharp edges.
