Inspiration/Method
The inspiration was to interpret the natural harshness and porosity of volcanic pumice stone with contemporary materials technology that enables aesthetic aggression and textured surfaces that disguise it of its actual softness and comfortability. What appears to the eye as chiselled and carved stone is actually surprisingly soft and spongy despite its rugged monolithic appearance.
Design Challenge
The Pumice Collection explores the technological advances of injection moulded polyurethane elastomeric exoskeleton construction with a decidedly artistic interpretation.
