Project Brief

The designer has tried to make an inclined yard from the original construction of staircase in order to directly lead outdoor sunlight through the window inside the house. By the high-ceiling staircase with white color backdrop, the sunlight can pass through upper side of the kitchen and illuminate the gloomy down side corner. Comparing to the usual design strategy of ignoring all these defects, all these renovating strategies are the efficient ways to arrange the original space without gloomy areas. The bright staircase with the frame scenery to the dinning room, the space is no more feelings of constrictive and depressed but a little expectative and delightful. The serial scenes of stepping up the stairs are just like climbing up the roof and surrounding by the Nordic style houses, you can glimpse the living stories along the way from the roof windows. So much imaginative, the quality of life can be piled up by lovely and memorable scenarios.

Project Need

The first floor is the classroom for e-commercial courses managed by the owner's children where is full of youth and vibrant atmosphere. The concept of the e-commercial classroom is derived from the Nordic open classroom with concise lines and colorful aesthetics where the students can stimulate their potential liberally. There are two sliding doors hidden in the main fair-faced concrete wall in the living room; one door is towards private rooms, and the other is towards the dinning room where can weave the family affection. The second floor is the private living room. The abstract painting with saturated warm colors hung on the back wall of the living room can get the room atmosphere out of dead-silence sense. The Melamine board made to cement is the relief of waving curves which is the designer's handcraft. The waving curves of the relief are just like the figures of nine carps, this handcraft has the metaphor meaning of longevity. In addition, this relief has the function to softly lead positive aura from outdoors to indoors. This is like a fortune creek flowing into the Buddhist hall which can make a kind of metaphor to spring up the wealth and gratification senses for all family members.

Design Challenge

The original spatial composition of this project has the disadvantages of gloom, disorder and narrowness; all these are the challenges of this design project. As the different spatial needs followed by generations' transition, the designer can directly transfer the original spatial defects by reorganizing the spatial order and logic with infinite inspiration to derive the consciousness of spatial meaning.

Sustainability

The design composition of this project in the consideration of Eastern and Western philosophies is a kind of balance grace. With this tranquil feeling, it's like a kind of fresh inspiration passing through time-spatial presence in every spatial gene. It can awake the original space order and generate delightful spatial melody that you can sing along. The owner's family in this graceful space can absorb the positive effects from the interior circumstances into each member's deep mind. This is a kind of irreplaceable family impression, people and the space itself can generate their life stories in future days.
