Project Overview

Ancient medicine meets modern technology in the simplest, kickass app to solve the long haul issues of air travellers. Jet lag is a nasty thief, stealing fun, sleep and wellness for many people after flying to a new time zone. It can rob you for days before your body aligns itself to the new time zone. Ancient Chinese medicine has the solution for 3000 years in complex meridian charts.

The JetLagFree app sorts these charts into simple, visually colourful images and presents them in a timely schedule of 12 treatments that each take 30 seconds to complete.

Project Brief

Once upon a time a lady travelled the world and loved the adventure of new places, cultures and meeting new people but when she got off the airplane in a new time zone she suffered while jet lag robbed her of her adventures.

Every day when the sun came up she would have headaches, indigestion, be lethargic and fatigued. As the sun set she would be restless and sleepless and generally unwell. She tried many suggestions that just did not work.

One day she decided it was all too much and began to search the world for a solution. With a passion for natural therapies she looked everywhere. Because of this she uncovered an ancient natural technique that she adapted and began to use with great success. Because of that she began sharing it with family and friends and eventually there were rows of fellow travellers on the airplane that would arrive in the new place and time zone without feeling unwell.

This technique worked so well that finally she wanted to share it with the world. She developed a mobile app and put it into iTunes. So now anyone can travel to new places and time zones and get off airplanes feeling happy, well and ready to enjoy their adventures because they are JetLagFree.

Project Need

A first world problem solved with ancient techniques that have been woven into a functioning app.

Long haul flights often take us across multiple time zones. This often comes with jet lag. Daytime fatigue, lethargy, headaches, disorientation, indigestion, then night time restlessness, insomnia and digestion and bowel upsets are all part of jet lag. This happens because the rhythms of the body are running on a cycle that is different to your time zone.

Modern medicine describes two main circadian rhythms of the body, awake and asleep. Ancient medicine from China has a history of over 3000 years.

They describe energy lines through the body that link to organs of the body. They have a series of 12 of these body rhythms as well as techniques to adjust and manipulate each of these.

By applying this ancient science to the modern challenge of jet lag we have created an app that calculates time zone differences for each organ of your body, correlates these ancient charts and presents a series of simple treatments to prevent the symptoms associated propelling our bodies into a new time routine via long haul flights.

User Experience

Statistics through the Apple store indicate that we have a good amount of organic searches happening and about a 4% download rate. Industry experts are telling us that our current sales to date are high for a new app especially without advertising. We are looking at an advertising campaign to drive more traffic to the store.

JetLagFree has a Facebook page that is growing it's engagement and we are currently in the process of putting together a Facebook campaign to drive traffic to the app store. Sales and most marketing so far has encompassed word-of-mouth referrals to the app.

The website, www.freefromjetlag.com, has been set up and optimised to capture google searches and direct customers to the app store.
Our campaign will focus on being JetLagFree and what this can do on arrival. The focus will be around having more fun, better relationships and being able to function at a high level when you have stepped out of the airport.

Project Privacy

As our app is a totally native enclosed app there is no data collection. The user will need to be internet connected to download the app and then everything will work for them offline. This means it is fully functional in Aeroplane Mode.

Even the user requirements to complete the treatments only need the user to work on arms and legs and can be done from the airline seat. In testing and sampling we have found that this is totally discreet and not being noticed by other passengers.
