Domain presents a world’s first with Domain Check-in, the future of property inspections. Gone are the days where real estate agents use pen and paper to record potential buyer details at inspections. Domain Check-in allows potential buyers to simply register their attendance at an inspection using the Domain app, sending their details to the seller’s agent instantly.

House hunters can say goodbye to having to tell agents your details over and over again when attending inspections. They simply enter their details into Domain Check-in once, and their details will be shared automatically with the real estate agent when they arrive at the inspection via bluetooth, or by scanning a QR code.

Project Brief

The Brief: Disrupt property inspections and create a seamless experience for property hunters.

Industries everywhere are undergoing a digital revolution and Domain is right at the forefront of this revolution in Australian real estate.

Finding a new home can be a highly time consuming process filled with inspections and agents constantly asking the same questions over and over again. Our mission is to bring joy to the property inspection process by saving people time, each and every inspection.

We tore apart the entire property inspection experience and re-imagined it from beginning to end. The goal was clear - create an experience that saves time, is a pleasure to use and removes the repetition of providing the same details, often to the same agent.

We presented the Australian real estate industry with a world’s first, Domain Check-in. We disrupted the current property inspection process of collecting details via pen and paper, by creating an automatic check-in, which sends details to agents instantly. Domain Check-in saves property hunters precious time and allows them to receive information about the property faster than ever before. They enter their details into Domain Check-in once, and it will be automatically shared to real estate agents each time you inspect a property via bluetooth or by scanning a QR code that becomes available in the Domain app.

Project Need

Domain Check-In is a world’s first and is set to revolutionise the property inspection process. Domain allows users to seamlessly check in to property inspections and send their details directly through to agents without even taking their phone out of their pocket. Technology is used to improve each part of the property inspection experience for both agents and consumers. Using bluetooth and geolocation technology, Domain Check-in is able to create an inspection experience in line with consumer’s expectation of digital booking and check-in experiences at airlines and events.

Bluetooth is used to allow a hands free automatic check-in via beacons, no more clipboard and paper.

Smart Notifications send users information about nearby inspections and properties that have just come on the market. Domain sends reminders and inspection time updates pushed straight to user’s phones to avoid turning up to a changed inspection.
QR code technology is used to allow agents to scan Domain Check-in passes at property inspections where Internet signals are weak

The Domain app integrates with smartphone calendars to create inspection passes and timely property inspection reminders.

User Experience

Our user experience team broke down the property inspection process to create a digital solution that enhances the inspection process for property hunters. We underwent extensive user testing in order to better understand the nuances of an inspection and collect real world feedback on the current process and how it could be improved. Both qualitative and quantitative data has been analysed in order to provide the best possible experience.

We leveraged the current Domain app as well as various different technologies available in order to create an experience that far surpasses the current inspection process.

Property hunters are busy and always on the move. With Domain Check-In, we now provide reminders and simplified inspection check-ins. Our new feature helps users find new properties they may be interested in as they walk down the street via geo-fenced notifications.

Project Marketing

Domain’s award winning marketing and PR team will be implementing an extensive multi-channel strategy to promote Domain Check-in. The following channels will be leveraged:

-TV sponsorship
- PR
- Outdoor
- EDMs
- Smart notifications

Campaigns are centred around the key value proposition to both a consumer and agent audience which is “Inspections made easy”.

The team will be further bringing the experience to life using the Domain coffee van to engage both customers and agents as part of a brand activation campaign. The coffee van will be listed as a Domain listing to simulate the Domain Check-in experience and to drive consumer usage, product awareness and agent adoption.

Project Privacy

At Domain privacy is very important. We have adhered to new Privacy Act in regency from July 2014. We are transparent with our customers and have disclaimers in data collection points such as enquire forms and sign up pages.

We also are very diligent with app permissions and no personal contacts are sent to our servers. The data we do collect is used to give our customers personalised user experience and to promote the services.

In addition, links to our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy are easily accessible in Domain’s websites and apps.
