Project Overview

The Land Rover Media Hub is a kiosk-style iPad app built to disseminate Land Rover and Range Rover news, media information and assets to a global audience.

The app contains digital press packs, resource packs and a news feed all of which are updated as new stories and information are released by Land Rover.

We had a multi-disciplinary team involved in this project including; UI/UX Designers, Digital Designers, iOS Developers, Copywriters, Project Managers and Account Managers headed up by our Digital Director, Chris Guy.

Project Brief

Working with Land Rover’s PR team we were tasked with the production of digital media assets to support their announcements at the Geneva and New York motor shows.

We were asked to create a strategy to disseminate multiple news and product announcements, in eleven languages, to a global audience over the first quarter of 2014.

Our response was to design and build a Media Hub iPad app that not only held all the digital press packs, news stories, images, videos and infographics required for the two motor shows, but also has the capability to deliver all future media information to Land Rover’s target audience.

Project Need

Our project needed to give journalists access to all the latest Land Rover Media information, to notify them of new content as soon as it became available and give them access to all the assets they needed to write stories and features.

User Experience

Our primary user base is made up of automotive journalists and other media professionals. We wanted to give our users the information they needed quickly and efficiently whilst retaining the premium brand values of Land Rover and Range Rover.

In order to achieve this we created three sections within the app, allowing users to access the information in the way that suits them best.

In the Press Pack section of the app users are treated to an engaging rich-media experience with animated CGI, inline image galleries and interactive 360-degree spinners.

The Resource Packs are functional media galleries which house all the assets available. The assets can be filtered by content type, saved to a collection of favourites and shared via social media or email - which includes links to download high-res images and editable Word documents.

The News section is a grid of latest news stories from Land Rover each supported by an image or video. This section is tightly integrated with Land Rover’s media website and provides a method for their PR team to alert journalists of new content via push notifications.

The app is also featured on the home page of Land Rover’s Media website at http://media.landrover.com

Project Privacy

The Land Rover Media Hub is freely available to download via iTunes and requires no user registration or sign-up to use. The data collected via the (optional) mailing list is held by a secure third-party supplier that meets the legal requirements for storage of personal data.
