Project Brief

Cogniss empowers businesses, educators, non-profits and others who don’t have the technical know-how to create impactful solutions for today’s learning and behavioral challenges. It does this by integrating neuropsychology, big data and adaptive game-based mechanics into a single, easily customisable platform.

Flexible enough to address any complex subject matter, Cogniss is designed around neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to adapt and change in response to new experiences. The platform’s core innovative feature is the Cognission Engine, a machine learning algorithm that dynamically monitors user behaviour and perfectly levels the delivery of new information. This helps induce a state of flow and maximises long-term memory retention.

Other features include configurable rewards systems and in-game economies that help drive positive behaviours; an opt-in cross-sell network that promotes relevant apps to the right users and expands the potential audience for any single app; Cogniss Insights, the live capture of data that consumers, app owners and researchers alike can use to track educational outcomes or behaviours; and a single-identity social network where a user’s profile, avatars, badges, achievements, friends and teams follow them across all Cogniss-powered products.

Project Need

Cogniss is a creation of 2and2, an internationally acclaimed educational games company with over a decade of experience developing digital solutions for sustained learning and behaviour change. While our solutions won many prestigious international awards, we encountered the same problem over and over: they were time-consuming, complex and costly to create. This is because sophisticated app-based solutions are often painstakingly built from scratch.

Cogniss saves both time and money – without compromising on app quality – by building the most common, in-demand learning functionalities directly into the platform’s core. It takes the technical hassle out of building learning or behavior change apps, significantly speeding up the process and freeing app owners to focus on creating great content instead.

User Experience

The rapidly growing healthtech, edutech and behaviour tech app markets consist of many quality stand-alone solutions, but few bring together all the essential features for effective tech-driven learning - neurologically sound and adaptive learning, configurable rewards systems that drive positive behaviours, high quality games, social learning and in-depth analytics tools.

Cogniss brings the best of all these worlds into a single, cost-effective platform that’s flexible enough to adapt to any content type, learning or behaviour change goal. This makes the platform appealing to multiple user groups:
* End users can rely on the efficiency, enjoyableness and effectiveness of learning apps;
* App creators can build learning and behaviour change solutions quicker, easier and for lower cost;
* Researchers gain access to a trove of valuable real-time data sets gleaned from a wide cross-section of user behaviours.

Project Marketing

We reach clients through a targeted marketing strategy that speaks to different, but equally important audiences. This includes maintaining close contact with former, current and potential clients and contacts built up over a decade of developing successful game-based solutions for a diverse cross-section of industries. We also maintain a strong presence within the startup, edutech and tertiary institutions through networking events, conferences and various internship programs. In addition to traditional media outreach and social media, we plan to launch a thought leadership publication, Cogniss Magazine, in the near future.

Cogniss has already experienced early success in the primary school sector, having recently released STEM Explorer, a maths and science app addressing holiday learning loss. We are also working with reputable industry leaders and academic consultants to grow the Cogniss ecosystem and develop further apps around early childhood literacy, road safety, sports mentorship and financial literacy.

International expansion is an additional key focus. Our first integration overseas partner is located in Latin America; we also plan to establish a presence in Europe, North America and Southeast Asia in the coming year.

Project Privacy

Cogniss takes privacy very seriously, and implements detailed data and terms of use policies that apply to the full suite of Cogniss services, products, games and mobile apps. The platform itself is built on leading PAAS offerings that allow us to leverage the security knowledge of others, as well as build our own solutions in a best practice way.

Cogniss also features Kid Safe mode, which only allows users to connect with other users known to them in the real world. Kid Safe mode removes free texting between users, restricting communications to the use of emoticons and pre-defined messages.
