Project Overview

Like many other events, the physical Global Sales Development Summit was cancelled this year due to COVID19. Genesys was looking to create an interactive, fun, engaging, and impactful virtual summit style event experience for their Global SDR team – a webinar or a zoom session would not do.

The challenge for Genesys was to get everyone together and make them feel like they’ve travelled to a common destination as a team. It needed to be fun and interactive, so summit attendees would not be stuck to their screens watching presentations for the duration of the summit. How do we make it fun, exciting and engaging? With travel restrictions in place this was a challenge as the sales reps were spread out globally.

Genesys was looking to create something truly special for their SDR teams.

Mobiddiction's "Virt-Real" VR powered technology was used with the theme "Journey to Sydney" where Genesys SDRs were able to experience 43 venues from Sydney in VR as a “VR enabled Bus Tour” emulated the experience of a team travelling together to the conference venue.

Upon arrival, the conference attendees were greeted by a keynote session amidst the awesome Sydney Harbour. The VR 360º enabled backdrop for their SDR2020 Conference was delivered with live and recorded sessions across four calendar days in multiple time zones.

Project Brief

After the cancellation of their summit, due to COVID-19, Genesys approached Mobiddiction to create an interactive, fun, engaging, and impactful virtual event experience for their global Sales Development Representatives to participate in.

There were three overall objectives:

1) To provide the team with a memorable experience
2) Relevant content packed with key takeaways
3) Leave attendees feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready to exceed targets for the second half.

The team at Mobiddiction came up the “Journey to Sydney” theme and created visual elements, which made it a very special event for Genesys SDRs attending the event – all in VR and 360º mode which made it extra special and a world first VR event of it's kind.

The idea was to give conference attendees a pre-conference bus-tour of Sydney that was VR enabled, worked on desktop and mobile with no app download or jumping hoops needed and conference attendees were able to experience 43 venues from Sydney in VR before arriving at the conference amidst the backdrop of the beautiful Sydney Harbour for their event.

Just like in a normal event, there were break out areas, networking areas, keynote and special sessions with different venues as the room-themes ranging from Hyde Park, Opera House to Bondi Beach.

The conference wrapped up with a glittering Awards night amidst a VR 360º enabled night view of the Sydney Harbour!

- Live Chat / Polls / Q&A
- Awards Night
- Digital Bingo
- Special offers for conference attendees
- Live Photo Gallery and Social Media Integration

- No third party apps or downloads needed

User Experience

GENESYS Global SDRs were sent a "Journey to Sydney" in a box package that brought Sydney to them. Attendees were able to get onto a virtual bus-tour to experience Sydney in VR before attending the conference.

The team got to experience Sydney virtually, with content from industry thought leaders and peers, and a motivating keynote from Alex Banayan.

Genesys sent each attendee a "swag pack" that included conference themed lanyards, agenda, masks and a VR lens to experience the bus-tour. This "bus tour" allowed attendees to feel like they were traveling to the conference venue while learning historical facts about Sydney along the way - all in the comfort of their homes. There were 43 venues which users engaged in VR.

As attendees got to the conference venue, an introduction video while floating by the harbour bridge in VR welcomed the attendees to the conference, before the event kick off.

The conference was held across time zones over 4 calendar days. The agenda was a fully packed and included a packed lineup, with speaker presentations, slide decks, videos live cast and hosted.

Audience engagement included Q&A, Bingo, Fireside chats with speakers, Twitter wall and attendees were able to send in photos to go on the conference virtual photo gallery in real-time.

GENESYS SDR 2020 wrapped up with a glittering Awards night with the world’s best harbour and opera house views as the backdrop.

Project Marketing

Being an internal event – there was no external marketing.

Genesys designed and ordered a swag pack sent to all attendees (photo attached). SDR 2020 logo lock up was used across all the marketing and communications material, much like attending a summit in the real-world.

Emails to registered attendees were sent before, during and after the conference. There was a regular flow of sessions that were all conducted across 4 calendar days in multiple time-zones.

The emails, swag pack and a special website for ordering additional swags for conference attendees were all themed - SDR 2020. Mailchimp was used to automate emails pre, during and post the event.

Project Privacy

The entire event was only for pre-registered, authenticated attendees, much like a conference in the real world. We maintained high standards of content, data and security standards. Our platform is hosted and managed by us on AWS.
