Project Overview

A brand that powers happiness requires a workplace that powers its people. We delivered a five-floor transformation for Coca-Cola Amatil in Sydney, to create a destination reflective of the business.

The new office space is designed for flexibility and longevity. Bold design overlay celebrates industrial aesthetics and contrasts organic forms with the linear. Senior managers now sit amongst their teams in an agile workspace, moving away from the traditional style they had before, with quiet rooms facilitating privacy when required. Teams are encouraged to integrate and collaborate, through collaboration lounges, teapoints, a bar, retreat lounge, drinks emporium and terrace; with technology seamlessly integrated into the design.

Project Brief

Coca-Cola Amatil is an FMCG powerhouse. They wanted a new workplace to demonstrate their industrial might, while being an inspiring and efficient environment to work in. Finding an alternative premises to accommodate their people was proving a challenge, so they decided to extend their lease and appoint us to help reorder the space they had.

Project Innovation/Need

The design centres around moments of surprise; little moments that have the ability to turn good experiences into great ones for clients and staff. A designated client floor gives a dramatic welcome to visitors; a space filled with light and sweeping harbour views. This client floor also features a bar, which brings both staff and external visitors together for coffee, meetings and allows for entertaining.

Design Challenge

We undertook a strategic briefing to establish project objectives, with findings informing the landscape of the new space. By looking at their existing space and carefully listening to their requirements, we saw how Coca-Cola Amatil could not only remain where they were, and still accommodate everyone comfortably, but even give up one of their six floors.

As an occupied space, the project was completed in stages. A complex stacking program utilised level 12 as a transition floor, while works were undertaken, in order to minimise disruption.

The challenge was completed successfully with all the project timelines and milestones being met and the client being thrilled with the result.

Efficiency in design ensured existing elements were reused – from breakout chairs made of reused Coca Cola bottles, to utilisation of old work stations into bench-style seating.

Coca-Cola Amatil were also able, through space utilisation data and careful, up-front planning, to give up one of their six floors, saving them money and bringing more of their staff together.
