Project Overview

The house owner of this design project admires the quiescence of nature, the changes of seasons, and the poetic verdurous scenes, all of which signify a state of not only the change of space and time, also the natural aesthetics. This design project advocates simplicity, restraint and admiration to nature as the principle of design, of which the residential space with the verdurous views remains undisturbed from the bustling city life. This is where the family enjoying the exquisite view of natural pool, and experiencing a slow living lifestyle.

Project Brief

What is your desired house for a life in retirement? The house owner of this design project expects to have this indoor space where tea culture plainly conformed to daily life. The artists’ creations are no longer unrealistic, but accessible to customers who can appreciate the house owner’s artistic collections blended with lifestyle, where invites customers to savor the taste of tea with aesthetics of art. Tea ceremony has a long history in China. Tea ceremony is an etiquette of life in a manner of tea, and it is an approach of self-cultivation. Tea ceremony strengthens friendships, promotes self-cultivation, and learns etiquette by making tea, admiring tea, and savoring tea, all of which are consistent with the Eastern philosophy advocating “purity and simplicity.” The combination of tea art and ceremony, both of which reciprocally embraced, is the result of exceptional unity of materiality and spirit. Colors of tea inspired the designer in planning the color scheme that the different levels of tea fermentation having different colors of teas have given the designer ideas to invent the delicate brown scheme. The plentiful natural decoration materials, as well as the exquisite colors, spawn the low-key and calm Zen style. The artworks ingeniously arranged make customers can savor their teas with favored tea utensils, who can physically and mentally immerse themselves in an art performance of tea life.

Project Innovation/Need

The architectural design integrating the landscape design proposes the design principle that is natural oriented, and it endeavors to keep a harmonious relationship and coexistence with the land and nature. The building exteriors are painted with the modest grey colors, which are moderate, subdued and proper. The clear-cut appearance of the greenhouse is figuratively integrated with the surrounding natural landscapes. The even-span greenhouse roof artistically corresponds to the rolling hills.

Design Challenge

In the initial phase of design project, building a glass greenhouse in Taiwan with good air circulation while concurrently saving energy was of great challenge to the designer, who began considering the ventilation by analyzing the weather in Taiwan and the local microclimate. The double-ridge roof with windows productively releases heat into the outdoor air. In the greenhouse, the German shade cloth effectively prevents the indoor space from heat, and it can be adjusted electronically according to different weather conditions. Those who managing the greenhouse can monitor the indoor space by installing the greenhouse with intelligent environmental control system.

Sustainability

Choose good building materials reasonably, reduce the invasion and persecution of nature, pay attention to the balance between man and nature, and live in harmony with the environment. Reasonable selection of good building materials not only reduces the persecution of nature, but also reduces construction costs. Try to use another way to cherish what nature gives, so that people and the environment can coexist in a friendly way . Utilize building construction technology, pay more attention to natural ventilation and natural lighting to improve indoor comfort and meet indoor lighting requirements. Use energy-saving and environmentally friendly building materials to lay the foundation for the construction of ecological buildings and the creation of a human environment in harmony with the natural environment.
