Project Overview

The red brick kiln and acacia trees tell the history of brick making heyday in Taiwan's plateau region. The picture inspires the design of facades, landscapes, and public facilities of the Lupin Pavilion. The designer extracts materials from nature and extends its beauty.
Longtan has a rich natural and cultural background, and it was the birthplace of Yu-Hsien Teng, a father of Taiwanese folk songs, and Chao-Cheng Chung, a giant of Taiwanese literature. The music Four Season Red, patterns of Lupins and Longtan Lake are important elements of the design.

Project Brief

Lupins, the mother of flowers nourishing tea farms for Taiwan's Hakka tribes, are used as the main piece to be placed on the glass box, reproducing a view of full bloom. The infinity pool is like the Longtan Lake reflecting the sky and clouds and dancing with the lupins.
The naturally withered acacia confusa tree that was grown on the base transforms itself into the reception desk at the lobby. The roots of the tree support the tabletop and carry the memory of the mountain forest. We obtain materials from nature and make good use of eco-friendly to extend the beauty of nature.
The new life aesthetics in the post-covid-19 era adopts the reservation of flexibility to create a space that maintains a connection between people while keeping separate entrances. This approach values community interactions and considers personal life. The large area of French windows faces the forest and greens, offering excellent ventilation.
The banquet hall is open and connected to the lobby on weekdays, and when there is a party, sliding dividers are used to create an “exclusive space.” Every residence unit is equipped with a mud-room by the entrance, where residents can do simple changing and disinfection for sanitation purposes before entering their residence.

Project Innovation/Need

"Post-Pandemic" New Architectural Style, The Lupin Pavilion offers low-density occupancy and window views of the valley, on a large base of 1,262 pings, 50 households share 7 smart pandemic control elevators.
The design of breakpoints is adopted for contact between people. Smart elevators driven by hand gestures enable separate entries between households to reduce contacts. The banquet hall is designed to have a separate entrance, which meets the banquet needs of residents while outsiders are not offered direct access into the community.

Design Challenge

Social distancing has become the new normal for much of the world and The Lupin Pavilion has taken this into serious consideration, along with much more!
First impressions are important and every detail in the lobby has been carefully considered to greet you with a warm welcome. The cold, black marble usually associated with luxury homes has been replaced with a red travertine marble that dances in the sunlight. The trunk and roots of local acacia trees have been preserved as the lobby welcome counter, bringing the warmth of nature inside to create a deeper bond to the nearby environment.
Some of The Lupin Pavilion in-room innovations will make life much easier. The laundry space has been strategically placed within the bathroom so there is no longer a need to worry about the weather. No more freezing in winter or sweating during summer. The two towers facing north are designed with large windows to not only frame the beautiful landscape, but also take advantage of the warm winter sunshine.
Although 90% of the buildings in Longtan Aspire Park are villas, the unique design of The Lupin Pavilion creates a new standard of good design for homes.
