Project Brief

The entire space is one of low-profile, neat quintessence through the fusion of grayish-black tone and wooden materials. At the separate entryway, wooden materials of different hues pair perfectly with dark brown titanium-plated metal, marking the showcases and shoe-and-hat cabinetry with random modernist vertical and horizontal lines. A sense of unique magnificence is thus felt upon entering the residence. Next to the entryway is the main public area, with an open-plan layout that encompasses the living room and the dining room. Rectangles make for massive spatial extension, while gradation and richness of the space is achieved with the increase in structural volume.

Project Need

The living room is characterized by linear divisions in modernist ratios, bringing about a visual sensation of evenness and balance. By means of the six-degree bevels on the walls of wood-vein fair-face concrete, an image of vast, magnificent mountains is fashioned. The main wall of the dining room is formed using culture stone, golden original paint and curtains of hand-made nylon lines, presenting simplicity and mellowness unique to Japanese residences. The classic wood beam slants at the same angle, echoing the wall behind the sofa in the living room, with concealed lighting accentuating the varied visual gradations in the public area.

Design Challenge

The young couple who owns the residence has different preferences in design style. By combining a classic Japanese style with one that is modern and simple, an individualized style exuding warmth is fashioned. Its innovative design and fine construction approaches contribute to a unique new living space where family members bond and interact.

Sustainability

Environmentally friendly tiles, floors, paint and related building materials are used throughout the space. What we are trying to achieve is by green and healthy materials are applied more in the interior space, the better longer-term physical and mental health can bring to our users.
