Design and emotion on a journey towards full and empty spaces.
Precious materials such as glass and steel have been chosen because they blend perfectly in an innovative, all-Italian concept that works with shades, transforming each space into a literally "invaded" place from universe, where inspiration has no limits and the interior takes on the charm of a special event.
The harmony of circular shapes playing with fluidity to obtain the optical effect of the moon crossing in front of the sun.
Eclisse arises from the innate and ancestral desire of man to be able to understand the cosmos and its high energetic power. An innovative concept that, taking advantage of the excellence of Made in Italy in the processing of materials, unites matter and abstract, transforming closed spaces into infinite.

Project Brief

Eclisse arises from the precise desire of the client to create magical environments in which the energy flows as in special events like eclipse. Places of wonder and wonder where the eye never gets tired of observing.
The ambitious challenge that was posed to the designers was therefore to be able to create products that could give life to unique environments in which the power of a special astronomic event was recognized as the undisputed protagonist; spaces that despite being inside buildings, could bring back the suggestions of the infinite Universe.
Making this collection composed of 9 tables each declined into 4 lines: Azimuth, Saros, Apogeo and Prominence.
High and low tables designed to dilate and multiply their spatial dimension towards the infinite was Unica's response to the precise desire to recreate that suggestion that only a special event can give to the observer. The magic of an eclipse in which the alternating of light and dark can melt together regardless of place and time.

Project Innovation/Need

Italian artisan mastery and cutting-edge production techniques are the basis of a totalizing project that sees the desire for suggestive spaces at the centre, the swirling of sensations and the desire to live in mistery.
The soft shapes of the glass are combined creating new and harmonious solutions that combined with the fluid geometries can surprise the user who remains enchanted.
The sinuosity of the base seems to float the decoration of the floor from which the top glass melts with the basement in a delicate movement.
The "Recipe of the 18 steps", the "WOW effect" and "Trilli" that strongly characterize all of Unica's production also represent in this collection the highest expression of craftsmanship and technological expertise for which Unica is internationally recognized.
In fact, our work includes the creative effort of a team of talented designers and artisans who have developed and put into practice techniques that have never been tested until now to obtain unpublished effects and decorations.

Design Challenge

The challenge that our artists had to face was that of creating a product that saw the base melt in unison with the glass top, generating a unique and dynamic result, arousing sensations of movement.
Different materials blend skillfully with each other, projecting the phases of eclipse beyond the smoked extra-clear tempered shaped glass top into a protracted momentum towards the infinite as if to break the barriers of the physical spaces.
The development of sinuous shapes worked in the matter necessitated careful analysis and design studies aimed at obtaining a perfectly balanced object.

Sustainability

Unica has decided to elect glass as the undisputed protagonist of all its creations because it is a material whose work places Italy as the undisputed protagonist in the world for thousands of years. A material that since ancient times is considered a symbol of purity, lightness and has been used in all cultures and historical periods.
We can therefore claim that it is a material that for over five thousand years enchants like no other for its unique qualities of transparency, reflection and visual lightness as well as for its dual nature, that of being fragile and resistant at the same time. Glass is also a sustainable material par excellence, 100% recyclable, a quality that no other material can boast.
For the base we chose brushed stainless steel covered with a galvanic gold bath. This is a light and resistant material that is handcrafted by skilled hands and of which Italy boasts an ancient tradition.
These processes support the activities of small local crafts, safeguarding ancient crafts and traditional realities of our region.
