Rarities and Tavern on 51 at The New York Palace
Interior Design - Hospitality
The inspiration behind Tavern on 51 and Rarities is derived directly from the Villard Mansion where the venues are housed. The elegance of old New York and its spirit encompass these two spaces; one a public bar, one an exclusive lounge. The two spaces share a common aesthetic made up of colors and fabric that invoke an elegant authenticity routed in historical charm. The spaces are connected by a landmarked staircase as well as an illuminated modern metal and glass display case that extends through the center of the landmarked stair. The custom-made vitrine was designed to house the curated scotches offered at Rarities and allows patrons to view the prized bottles as they ascend the historic stair.
The Champagne Suite at The New York Palace Hotel
Interior Design - Hospitality
The Champagne Suite is a luxurious, multi-level penthouse located at the historic, world-renowned New York Palace. The new design for the suite brings together modern and classic design elements to create a glamorous space. Inspired by the creation and qualities of champagne, the team incorporated black, bronze, amber, gold and cream along with layers of texture into the interior palette. The result is a 21st century modernist interpretation fit for the senses: shimmering bronze, platinum and champagne-inspired tones contrasting with rich onyx and dark woods; textured stone and smooth glossy marble; custom lighting, furnishings, and art; and specialty treatments and finishes.
Chancery of the Permanent Mission of Singapore to the United Nations
Architecture - Public and Institutional
The Singapore Chancery is the home to Singapore’s Mission to the United Nations. The challenge of the project was to create a secure government building that also relayed a sense of transparency. By weaving together the national ideals of Singapore with a reinterpretation of the country’s vernacular architecture, the Singapore Chancery uses light, texture and shadow to illuminate the solid volumes of New York.
