Project Overview

In developing the LightScene series, Epson asked 15 designers from London, New York, and Tokyo to come up with solutions that bring exhibitions to life and enhance customer experiences. The tech manufacturer then selected four excellent ideas from the more than 50 outstanding proposals generated in the project, all of which recently debuted at a trade show in Amsterdam.

Project Context

The LightScene EV-100’s unobtrusive design is ideal for curated visual environments such as retail showrooms, shop window displays, museum exhibits and art installations, where minimal visual clutter is key. It can be used to provide information, show video or moving patterns, and even projection map imagery onto small objects.

Epson’s flexible laser technology gives the projector a huge variety of mounting options – it can project from any angle, and can be ceiling-mounted, floor-standing or attached to a lighting track, all without requiring specialist installation or set-up. It also projects in portrait orientation and can combine multiple units to blend edges for larger displays.

Commercial projects recognises that design is the means to create meaningful experiences for users, create value for people and drive profit for businesses.

The experience design category celebrates designed journeys, services, events and processes where the focus is placed on the experiences of the user. Consideration is given according to the design context and need, design innovation and the application of human centred design principles.
