Project Overview

The sales center will be served as an entrance lobby after it completes its selling function. However, the limited site area brought difficulties to create a small yet distinctive sales center which is merely 200㎡.
Spatial diversity highlights the core space featuring oriental characteristics. Courtyards, planted with bamboo, are arranged on east and west sides. The white central space has a sloped roof, available for reflecting sunlight. Abstract geometric pattern at the center conforms to the value of Greentown and also expresses an artistic conception.
At the unremarkable corner is the entrance. The horizontal transitional space with a long overhang presents an implicit feeling, inviting visitors to enter the space. Landscape elements at the front yard refer to classic Chinese gardens and get reorganized based on local conditions. Detailed parts reveal a tranquil atmosphere. From the veranda to the dynamic metal art installation, the team tried to build a quiet space from multiple dimensions. Here, residents can get away from the noise city.

Project Brief

Spatial diversity highlights the core space featuring oriental characteristics. Courtyards, planted with bamboo, are arranged on east and west sides. The white central space has a sloped roof, available for reflecting sunlight. Abstract geometric pattern at the center conforms to the value of Greentown and also expresses an artistic conception.
If a city serves as a container of new and old buildings, its story starts from the history and memories of architectures. The urban surface is simplistic and elegant, illustrating a mysterious and pure mental state of residents. The stone facade is shaped with a particular form, inlaid with metal lines that embody an exquisite surface.

Project Innovation/Need

Inside the central courtyard, pavilion, veranda, bridge and other Chinese-style architectural elements are the core landscape. The interior and exterior spaces are connected by French windows, through which the lobby comes into view. The north and west sides of central yard lead to modern high-rise buildings and duplex houses respectively, and the east side faces Chinese-style residential cluster. The flexible transition of functional spaces paves the way for unveiling Phoenix Mansion property.

Design Challenge

Located on the south side and adjacent to an urban road, the sales center will be serve as an entrance lobby to the demonstration area after it completes its selling function. However, the limited site area brought difficulties to create a small yet distinctive sales center which is merely 200㎡. The biggest challenge was how to realize the integration of modern aesthetics and traditional Chinese elements in spatial organization.

Sustainability

The steel structure and full curtain walls were designed and dismountable members were assembled on site. The design team tried their best to prevent the land from hardening. All of the materials are dismountable and will be reversely demolished after the end of the project, so as to minimize the irreversible impact of the project construction on environment. Thermal insulation materials were adopted to reduce the energy consumption of the air-conditioners in summer and the heating equipment in winter as well as the carbon emission of the building.
