Discover your own backyard

Digital - TravelTech

Destination Melbourne (DM) is the peak Melbourne tourism body aimed at maximising visitation to the Greater Melbourne area. The team champions several marketing initiatives that include the Melbourne Official Visitor Guide, but identified an opportunity to reinvigorate its award-winning Discover Your Own Backyard (DYOB) campaign with a new responsive website. The existing DYOB website was dated and featured a clunky search experience that made discovering local events, eateries, and activities unnecessarily difficult. We delivered a website that was both fun and easy to navigate. Seamless integrations with operator listings from both the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) and Zomato showcase what to see, do, eat, and drink in the “World’s Most Livable City”. The new DYOB platform builds upon Melbourne’s vibrant “precincts” as the hub of locale-specific content, grouping local attractions and areas of interest, and inspiring visitation. To assist prospective visitors and locals surface information and events of interest, we built out a comprehensive search interface that catered to geographical filters as well as interest categories, driving a powerful search/discovery experience.

MoneyNow website

Digital - FinTech

McMillan Shakespeare Limited (MMS) is one of Australia’s leading providers of salary packaging and novated leasing services. They are also industry experts in fleet and asset management. Money Now are a new subsidiary of MMS and a consumer finance business that principally deals with small to medium loans. These loans are often marketed for vehicles, but can also be applied to small businesses and other personal item. Initially, Money Now engaged us to do a website UX review. However, after commencing the review, proving our in-depth understanding of the business, and sharing our improvement recommendations, we were asked to provide a full end-to-end website redevelopment, spanning user research, UX workshops, and design, development, and hosting. The hero of Money Now’s new website is an affordability calculator which allows users to project repayment fees and schedules, and has proven to be a powerful trust builder and qualified lead generator. The client was so pleased with the calculator we designed they asked for it to be built as a standalone Ember application to allow MMS to re-skin the calculator and use it for other subsidiaries. We had to work within a short timeframe to build the product and merge both applications, but our successful delivery has benefitted both Money Now and the broader MMS group of companies.

Mondolux website

Digital - Home & Living

A subsidiary of leading lighting solutions provider Aglo Systems, Mondolux is new to the Australian lighting market. The brand boasts a full range of on-trend, quality lighting products, and its locally-based warehouse eliminates the lengthy delivery times many of Mondolux’s competitors face when shipping products from overseas. We were tasked with designing a premium, polished website that both showcased Mondolux’s products and catered to the needs and busy schedules of its core customers. Because the website serves as a primary marketing tool for the brand, design, functionality, and a smart, smooth user experience were critical for success. The finished product is as sophisticated as it is functional. Supported by high-resolution photography and a clean design aesthetic, the site’s powerful search interface allows users to navigate through Mondolux’s full product catalog with ease. Each individual product page is structured to programmatically generate generic and variation-specific PDFs highlighting technical and other key product specifications needed for retail, commercial, and industrial projects.

Flex PowerPlay Website

Digital - Home & Living

Flex is a US-based global electronics manufacturing giant, with a market cap of over $25B and over 200,000 employees globally. As leading global solar panel manufacturer, Flex saw an opportunity to apply its expertise and provide value to customers around the world by developing a complete solar solution spanning panels, inverters, storage, and in-home energy optimisation. The resulting product was called Powerplay, and we were engaged by Flex to deliver a state of the art website experience. Described as a “next generation suite of solutions,” each element of PowerPlay gives customers control over energy use and cost. PowerPlay is a fully integrated, scalable solution compatible with many popular home automation technologies. What made this engagement unique is that our task was to develop one website property that would accommodate two distinct markets: Australia and the United States. Through market research we learned these two groups have different motivations for making the switch to solar; therefore, we devised a solution that would deliver a customised experience depending on the user’s location. We configured the site’s backend in a way that allowed for certain components to be shared across both experiences, whilst still accommodating differences in products, specifications, and positioning. To make what is otherwise a complex subject more accessible and palatable to the general public, we segmented the PowerPlay product into three core concepts: Generate, Store, and Optimise. This product narrative continues through the website linear design and inspired a simple, sleek user experience.

Order of Style- Website

Digital - FashionTech

Order of Style are an online fashion retailer, offering a range of premium Australian and international fashion labels including J Brand, Rebecca Minkoff, and Sol Sana. We have been Order of Style’s digital agency for nearly five years, and have helped grow the brand to compete alongside e-commerce giants such as ASOS and The Iconic. We kicked off this partnership in 2014 with an end-to-end website development. Although the site was still performing well and bringing in significant business, technological advancements over the past four years meant the website was not reaching its full potential. We therefore embarked on a website redevelopment project that included UX workshops, strategic consultation, advanced SEO, an Algolia search integration, Craft Commerce, and full design and development. To differentiate Order of Style from the competition, we elected for a boutique look and feel that still provided the same kind of slick user experience e-commerce shoppers have come to know and expect from digital retailers. Because we knew the site had to be a top performer in terms of site and search speed, we customised a powerful search interface following extensive product and data mapping that helped users easily find products that perfectly matched their search criteria. Given the competitive nature of the fashion industry, we performed extensive SEO and built clear pathways that would lead users to precisely the top, pant, or shoe they were after, whether through an on-site search or through a search engine query.

Suntech- Website

Digital - Home & Living

Suntech is a leading global solar solutions provider and solar panel manufacturer whose goal is to provide power to 30 million people worldwide by 2020. Suntech has one of the largest research and development teams and is one of only a handful of manufacturers to be VDE certified. Suntech is very passionate about building and protecting a reputation as a leader in solar technology whose bigger purpose is to make the world a better place for all. To expand the business into Australia and tell the brand story in a way that Australians could relate to, Suntech engaged us to complete user interviews and deliver an Australian web property that would sit separate of its global website. The resulting website gives prospective customers plenty of reasons to choose Suntech over its competitors and demonstrates the brand’s financial benefits, technical sophistication, and commitment to innovation using an approachable tone of voice and clean design. We collaborated with a 3D rendering specialist to create an animated hero and product renders that make Suntech’s products stand out as a beautiful and modern option for consumers. Considerable research helped us design a journey and search experience that made it easy for users to locate a nearby solar installer and search products and company credentials.

Grill’d App UX

Digital - Food & Drink

Our team has worked closely with Grill’d, a popular Australian burger chain, over the past few years to refresh and optimise the business’s digital presence. Following a successful website redevelopment, the team engaged us to oversee the UI and UX of a new mobile app. Our project involvement spanned UX workshops, detailed user journeys, wires, prototypes, and a full UI design for both iOS and Android. When designing the app, we strived for a level of consistency between it and the Grill’d website. However, we stayed mindful to design specifically for small screen size and to account for mobile users’ needs. The end result is a crisp, functional app that allows users to quickly and easily browse menus, locate stores, and access location-specific offers, news, pricing, and more. The design aesthetic, while slightly modified, still emulates the same irreverent, illustrative style Grill’d is now known for.
