Project Brief

A momentary brainwave during a regular DesignEx project meeting had an ExpoNet Account Manager on the phone with the idea to create a functional, cost-effective and sustainable pop-up cafe.
Holding onto the hope that the design team had not yet gone to lunch, a call was made with the brief: "design this space for me by the time the meeting is finished! And make it awesome."

Project Need

With the high expectations of delivering a unique stand in a small space with minimal budget inside a high-end design show, the ExpoNet team decided to take a different approach.

To maximise the visual and financial impact of the feature, they sketched out the core structure and stripped back the materials used to the basic wood frame. This low-cost framework then offered up easy shelving and mounting opportunities while maintaining an open and inviting feel. The sponsors (St. Ali and Great Dane) then had ample space to offer their product and make their visual mark.

All involved exhaled a sigh of relief as the need for great coffee at DesignEx was fulfilled.

Design Challenge

The design challenge was simple: no time, no budget, but make it awesome!

So in true pop-up style, the ExpoNet team created a design with minimal materials, minimal install time, but with maximum visual impact.

Sustainability

The ExpoNet team were able to draw on their creative minds and extensive resources as a large exhibition company and recycle existing materials for the build.

By reusing and stripping down existing stud wall panels, the structure could be quickly constructed, utilising raw natural materials and avoiding unnecessary paints and laminates.
Even the bar is part of ExpoNet's new customisable StyleMe furniture range which can be rebranded and reused to suit each project.

All additional furniture and lighting was sponsored and then returned to their rightful homes upon completion of the event, and the structural framework collected and put back into use by ExpoNet.
