Project Brief

MLC Tennis Hot Shots had a low level of awareness compared with some other kids' sports programs.

Tennis Australia came to Millipede looking for a way to engage young kids in a new way to the game of tennis. This game was designed to be not just a fun activity, but also to raise awareness of the game of tennis and generate interest in their Hotshots program for new players.

A further goal was to be able to communicate directly with these players without relying on advertising.

The game was tremendously successful in fulfilling this brief in all aspects.

Project Need

Prior to the release of the game, registrations in this program was at just over 30,000 players.

After the release of the game, registrations had increased to 90,000 players - a near three-fold increase.

The game continues to be one of the most popular in it's genre and inspiring the next generation of Wimbledon champions!

CHOOSE YOUR LOOK
• Customise your player in the Pro Shop
• Choose from an incredible range of traditional and unusual clothing and equipment
• Earn coins by winning matches and spend them in the Pro Shop

CHALLENGE YOUR FRIENDS
• Add friends so you can compare scores
• Prove who is the best Hot Shot by getting to No.1 in your friends’ list
• Look out for your friends’ avatars cheering you on during matches

GET FIT
• Turn your iPhone or iPod Touch into a pedometer – every step in real life goes towards in-game rewards for your player
• Complete each daily step challenge to earn coins to spend in the Pro Shop

Marketing was done through Tennis Australia and MLC, the sponsor of the Hotshots program.

A specialist games PR agency was contracted to promote the game.
