Project Brief

The movement, Art Deco has a distinguished style of simple and clean lines with bold geometric forms. This can be seen on the lobby flooring; using black patterned marble arranged in handcrafted planks to create a dynamic look. Also furnished with paintings, bicycles, old fashioned suitcases and cameras for an authentic look and make the guests feel as though they have stepped back in time into the past New York City.

An example of abstract in this interior can be seen behind the reception. The square frame decor is made of brass stainless steel – slim, straight and tough. A combination of delicacy and harshness to emphasis the professions of New York. The unique silver-grey timber veneer is the main wall-finishing that surrounds the interior, as it is visually shinny and carries the raw texture of wood grain, transforming the place into a high-end hotel.

The hotel rooms are furnished with a combination of black, white and navy blue. A formal colour palette that can be associated with professionals to create a classic and elegant ambiance. The room numbers are designed in a unique font for a touch of Deco. Furthermore, The sink basin has been placed outside the bathroom and with in the bedroom so that it is convenient for the guests.

Project Innovation/Need

The hotel rooms are modern, practical and family-friendly with a sink and separate bathrooms. Combination of black, white and navy blue, a formal colour palette that can be associated with professionals, is adopted to create a classic and elegant ambience in the room interior.

The corridors on each floor have been turned into an art gallery, featuring works by local artists, as part of the hotel's support of art development.

Design Challenge

As the lobby's ceiling is quite low, we have used bright lights and white walls to open up the space. A silver-grey timber veneer is the main wall finishing the hotel-its visually shiny and raw wood grain texture helps create a high end ambience.

For the hotel rooms, the use of white marble against shades of navy blue and black helps enhance the sense of space.

Sustainability

In Hotel Ease, we have maximised the efficient use of space and made use of LED lighting to save energy. A terrace garden is designed on the 3rd floor to provide green environment for guests to relax and enjoy their stay.
