Project Overview
Potato Head Hong Kong is the second international outpost from Indonesian hospitality and lifestyle group PTT Family and their first collaboration with JIA Group, founded by local restaurateur Yenn Wong.
Potato Head Hong Kong was designed by award-winning Tokyo-based architect Sou Fujimoto and PTT Family’s in-house creative team. Fujimoto took inspiration from local architecture to deliver a new twist to his signature metal frame structures, which form the entire exterior façade of the space.

The interiors are an eclectic mix of Fujimoto’s signature pieces and authentic elements of Indonesian culture, such as hand-painted ceiling panels crafted by the Torajan people of South Sulawesi, custom teakwood furniture and mid-century antiques.
Potato Head Hong Kong is home to a number of original lifestyle concepts, including an authentic Indonesian restaurant called Kaum, a state-of-the-art Music Room for audiophiles, retail spaces and an all-day café and bar serving PTT Family’s own branded coffee.
Project Innovation/Need
I Love You So Coffee is an original brand from PTT Family created together with international coffee experts and the Tomato design studio in London. ILYS was first introduced by Tomato as part of their 25-year retrospective show in Tokyo in March.
The Music Room
This discreet and intimate listening space houses a high-fidelity sound system, perfect for a variety of events where the music can take centre stage. The audiophile-friendly room is kitted out with top-of-the-line Alpha mixers, McIntosh amplifiers, Technics turntables, Grado and Shure cartridges and JBL 4350 speakers. Guests can look forward to disco nights, album listening parties, guest gigs by touring DJs and collaborations with Potato Head Beach Club.
Retail
Echoing PTT Family’s emphasis on design and craftsmanship, Potato Head Hong Kong features a retail space with two sections. One section is the first global outpost of Canaan, the home and lifestyle boutique offering artisanal Indonesian items, including, linens, ceramics and clothing. The items are curated through a global partnership of creative individuals committed to supporting local Indonesian crafts and building better working environments for artisans.
Interior Design - Hospitality & Entertainment
This award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors, with consideration given to space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes, aesthetic presentation and functionality. Consideration also given to space allocation, traffic flow, building services, lighting, fixtures, flooring, colours, furnishings and surface finishes.
