Project Brief

The digital bell bag is designed like a conventional bell bag. So it remains possible to put cash in the bag. In addition, the ringer bag allows the cashless collection by giro card or credit card without entering a PIN. The technology is integrated into the housing and works contactless, the use is intuitive. Thus the digital bell bag fits seamlessly into the existing liturgy.

Project Innovation/Need

The digital bell bag is an additional offer for cash donation. The handling of the collection is thus simplified for the worshipers and worshipers as well as for the parishes.

The Digital Bell Bag makes it clear that the Evangelical Church and the Evangelical Bank are up to date with their offers. Both partners are open to the new and combine tradition and modernity in a convincing, user-friendly and secure manner.

The Digital Bell Bag is the first step in a comprehensive Digital Collection concept that has been deliberately designed to be usable in Germany in the future. Other functions include the development of a nationwide collection app and stations for cashless donations in the exit area of the churches.

Design Challenge

The digital collection bag comes as a result of growing trends towards cashless payment, but also as an answer to difficulties in depositing coins into bank accounts. With increasingly demanding fees from banks, this can be particularly problematic in rural areas, with long distances to banking branches, travel costs, deposit fees and administrative and logistical issues. Making card payment readily available to Church goers completely erases this issue.
