Enlarging the visual space has always been the big challenge for every designer. Given the restriction of mid-size square meters and mezzanine of the residency, the designer replaces the middle space with staircase that points out the differences among areas.

Project Brief

Made of irons and woods, the grilles creates the lively characteristic of space. The design idea establishing the dexterous space has been described by the designer as “the artist of space.”

Project Innovation/Need

Widening the old narrow space, “the artist of space” dismantles the boundary between the living and dining room, the design broadening the porch as well. After coming back home, the client feels the warm sunlight at the lounge and casually rearranges the storage room.

Design Challenge

On the contrast to the light wooden grains, the black cabinet displays the modern style and strengthens the characteristics of space. In the living room, the classical wallpapers and colors elegantly manifest the quality of “modern classic.” Through the grilles, the visual contact easily reaches the dining room whereabouts the metal materials interact accordantly with the steel staircase.

Sustainability

The mezzanine space is planned for the main bedroom and kids’ room. The crystal chandelier presents the beloved classical style by the hostess. The pure white bed and furniture are consistent with the philosophy of designer, quoted “the design idea relieving stressful life style has left the space in the residence telling the story for the family.”
