Project Overview

The project on the 35th floor in Banqiao is a landmark building in the area. In order to highlight the characteristics of the project, the design team made the reception center like a stage, the project is the main character, and the visitors can participate in the fabulous performance. The design team used arc elements to present the curtain of the stage and used various materials to shape the appearance of the theater, focusing the project on the center of the main stage and conveying the feeling of majestic and extraordinary tension.

Project Brief

This project is not just for clients, but for visitors to find their future home. In terms of aesthetics, the design team compared the reception center to a theater, using the opening of the theater to present the project. This project is like attending a play, there is a variety of props in the venue. The design team uses circular curtains and retractable metal curtains to bring a sense of vividness to the space while the oval stainless steel corrugated panels set off the starry night sky. Following the spiral staircase is like being in the center of the stage, the curtain of the circle evokes the curiosity of the visitors, who then walk into the show house to view the different themes of the space, watching different visuals at a time.

Project Innovation/Need

This project has the advantage of cathedral ceilings, with a maximum height of 6.3 meters at the entrance. The design team made a beveled façade door to avoid western exposure, and on the other hand, through the different materials to present subtle gradations of light and shade at different times of the day, to convey an extraordinary feeling. When visitors walk inside, the first thing they see is a stage that features a housing model and a spiral staircase that extends to the show house on the second floor, with the reception and sales area on the right side. The design team eliminated the feeling of declining ceilings by designing the grilles layer by layer. The first layer is a transparent grille, and the second layer is a substantial grille. The layers of arc grille make the space with a sense of rhythm. Last but not least, the third layer is a metal curtain, the set of indirect lighting for the metal curtain gives it the function of a stage curtain, and behind the metal, curtain is the sales area. The ceiling in the sales area is 4.5 meters in height, and the silk chandeliers and golden waves on the walls represent the image of spikes. On the other hand, the ceiling of the circular bar is designed in a gradual manner, which is close to the theme of "theater", and the multi-layered changes in the space are like a play, with the curtain progressively revealing the next scene.

Design Challenge

The reception center is themed around the theater and the arc is one of the essential elements. The arc in the field is not a regular circle, and it is impossible to describe the abstract concept of it, so there must be more complicated operations before construction. For example, the blueprint must be gridded and then compared to the construction site, the simulation results are then used to modify and compared again. The process is not harsh but it requires a lot of patience so that the arcs can be perfectly staggered in space. At the same time, the design of the spiral staircase also takes into account the slope and the structure of the support, and after repeated modifications to present the flawless stage. In addition to presenting the actual appearance of the project, the show houses also had to take into account the preference of the target audience, so the three sample houses conveyed a slightly different sense of atmosphere. Besides, the design team had to overcome the problems of long and narrow spaces, windowless rooms, and beam coping in the show houses.

Sustainability

The reception center is 495 square meters and the three show houses total 231 square meters, so more than half of the space is dedicated to the reception center. The material used in the reception center has a great extension, with a width of up to 120 and a length of up to 120 center meters. The design not only allows for fewer and more beautiful dividing lines but also presents the same visual effect as metal and stone. If all materials are replaced with real stone and metal, a lot of dust will be generated. Besides, the advantage of cathedral ceilings, with a maximum height of 6.3 meters allows for excellent lighting and ventilation and reduces unnecessary lighting and air conditioning energy consumption.
