Project Brief

The design of the hotel is laden with history, where you can find historical sincere feeling lays out richly in each corner, incarnating the historical responsibility of design.

Through adopting magnificent design languages, CCD reproduces and showcases the glory of Xi’an for thousands of years to guests around the globe. Six 9-meter-high "city gates" are brought into the reception area, showing grandness and hospitality. Named after gates of Xi'an city wall - Yongning Gate, Changle Gate, Anyuan Gate, Anding Gate, Zhuque Gate and Yuxiang Gate, those structures carry the memory of the city in the past decades. In this process, Oriental and Western culture collided, communicated and integrated, thereby producing inclusive and diversified human civilization.

Project Need

Inspired by the collision between the ancient and modern, integrate history and culture into the design, and at the same time, increase a modern futuristic sense. By the use of 3D printing technology, the interior embodies the magnificent and undulating form of Qinling Mountains, one of the cradles of Chinese civilization. Besides, the silhouettes of Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Drum Tower of Xi'an can be found in the subtly-composed wooden installation.

In the era of rapid development in all aspects, consumers are constantly putting forward new requirements for the material and spiritual life of the society. Therefore, in the design of this hospitality space, the design team decided to create an innovative interior space that not only provides a staying place for the travellers, but also serves as a platform to bridge the cultural and historical gap for guests spiritually.

Design Challenge

Designers' perception and understanding of luxury and aesthetics determines the uniqueness of their works. However, in order to protect the brand genes, compromises may be needed in the design. For example, each piece needs to maintain the necessary brand elements and brand standards, plus our design team is a perfectionist, to achieve expectations requires full communication and trust with onsite workers, which takes a lot of time and effort. But in terms of the final project effect this aspect is also a reflection of the ability of the design team.

Sustainability

The design of the hotel is laden with history, where you can find historical sincere feeling lays out richly in each corner, incarnating the historical responsibility of design. Keeping up with the spirit of The Times, we create an interior space that not only emphasizes modernity, but also has historical and cultural connotations. It is both modern and traditional.

For instance, six 9-meter-high "city gates" are designed into the reception area, showing grandness and hospitality. Named after gates of Xi'an city wall - Yongning Gate, Changle Gate, Anyuan Gate, Anding Gate, Zhuque Gate and Yuxiang Gate, those structures carry the memory of the city in the past hundreds of years. ¬ Each "city gate" symbolizes a pass. Along the ancient Silk Road, envoys and merchants crossed passes one after another and stopped at lots of inns for a rest. In this process, Oriental and Western culture collided, communicated and integrated, thereby producing inclusive and diversified human civilization.
