Project Brief
Such a plain and open-minded spirit showing the comprehension to natural landscapes exemplifies an ideal state that entire literati in Chinese culture have pursued. The expression of emotion transcending objects and time is the Chinese’s understanding of poetry and elegant as well. The idea turning back to the oriental roots in Chinese culture proceeding to abstract refinement rooted in Chinese culture. The space brings out the affection of humanity and is adaptive to contemporary people’s pursuit of comfortability and glamour.
Project Need
Given the undertone of modern oriental, the design project accentuates the sense of ritual in the reception space with the oriental conceptual beauty and the contemporary charm. The contemporary space is decorated with new Chinese-style furniture, customized lighting fixtures, and decorative ornaments. The overall oriental elegance and the atmosphere of modern life create a dreamland of heart for residents who therefore have the graceful experience of returning to innocence.
Design Challenge
The design idea based on the storyline “Peach Blossom Spring” delineates the visitor routes in the building, in which the spaces of “welcome,” “guest reception,” “banquet,” and “meditation” depict a series of desired pictures of life with the language of scene.
As to the design skills of space, the massive area of blank space and the traditional Chinese paintings artistically develop the transitional and progressive layers. The classical elegance and modern materials altogether give forth a brainstorm. The finishing touch of the oriental new floral aesthetics carries out the modern artistry as fascinating as flowing clouds and verdant landscapes.
Sustainability
This project has selected green construction materials based on the characteristics of “reuse, recycle, reduce and low pollution” to apply the minimum amount of chemical composites, causing no ecological burden and energy consumption, together with recycling for reuse to reduce the energy and resource consumption produced by the materials, which further caters for human body health and safety; natural materials and construction materials with low volatile organic compound (VOC) are utilized to decrease the hazards brought to the human body by chemical composites.

Open to all international projects this award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors, with consideration given to space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes, aesthetic presentation and functionality. Consideration also given to space allocation, traffic flow, building services, lighting, fixtures, flooring, colours, furnishings and surface finishes.
