Project Brief

With global businesses cannibalising the Australian retail industry how can local retailers ensure the diversity of their businesses remain integral to the high street and their communities?

We were tasked to create an open loyalty program that could easily fit into the retail infrastructure of any small businesses across Australia and give them the ability to compete again the big retailers. This platform had to have many layers as it’s free for businesses to sign up to so they can themselves on the map and offer daily deals to consumers. Furthermore, everyday consumers can sign up for free and benefit from daily deals and earn points which they can then redeem as rewards.
On top of all this we’re tasked to help build a platform and a culture to provide local businesses with a brand to allow them to compete amongst the mega chain supermarket stores.

Project Need

People value local retail for its uniqueness and diversity but find it difficult to justify shopping niche when cheap and convenient can be found within the one store.

Alone, local retailers could do little to change this customer mindset; however in alliance with one another and the community they could.

Tapping into peoples pride for their locality we decided to create a call to arms that rallied people to buy more from local retails stores.

During the first 3 months of launch Certified Locals was featured on Channel 9 & Channel 7 news as a community platform helping small business grow.

Project Privacy

This mobile application purposefully keeps no user data as we want to ensure that anonymity is maintained. All data that is posted and captured is kept in an encrypted format and decrypted by the application for presentation purposes. This process uses SSL for all communication.

The only other data that is captured in aggregate is user behavioural analytics, which provide insights into how the application is performing and what functionality needs improvement.

Apps more than ever are helping our communities to connect and engage, from emergency services to Not for Profits to social groups, these apps not only assist in delivery but provide efficiencies importantly providing those at the coalface more time to do their important work whether it be fighting fires or managing the local team. It's not all serious though we're also looking for apps that work to help bring the community groups together with fun and enjoyable activities.
