AUS [app] Design Awards Winners Announced

AUS [app] Design Awards Winners Announced
Wednesday 14 October
Melbourne, Australia
Winners of the 2015 AUS [app] Design Awards have been announced  by design100 Founder, Mark Bergin at RMIT Design Hub.  23 gold and 57 silver winners were awarded in over 20 categories covering B2B, Innovation, Community, Lifestyle, Marketing, Finance & mCommerce, Information and Health & Well Being. The awards provide a unique opportunity for all sectors of the industry and marketplace to engage and extend the design conversation and to celebrate the courage of both commissioners and creators.

The awards highlighted the economic impact and significant role apps have to play in achieving succesful business and social outcomes across a broad spectrum of industries. In all programs there are stand out portfolios – the Design Champion award went to the Domain Group for the quality and volume of work in this year’s awards program. Along with the Design Champion, the Best Studio categories were announced, Best Studio Small – DoneSafe,  Best Studio Medium – Millipede and Best Studio Large – Outware; the best studio winner is an aggregate score across unique nominated projects in the awards.

design100 and [app] Design Awards Founder Mark Bergin said “the acceleration in the apps market continues unabated. In the past arms races have been about strength, domination and control.

The digital economy is more about nuance; users will drop an app at lightning speed if it’s not on trend, not in the behavioural pattern of a fast changing world. Again we’ve seen long hall app brands innovate, come up with something astounding and take the challenge up to the new disrupters.

Apps are accelerating from smart phones to include machine to machine, web apps and ever more so connected devices.  The pace of the market is astounding and speeding up – congratulations to the market leaders.”

Silver winners include:  Healthcare Heroes, Ed Tech - Northern Health / Millipede, Pepper Pulse, Fintech - Pepper Group / Alive, Stan, Entertainment & Leisure and Carsales Apple Watch App, Best Connected Device & Wearable Tech - carsales.com.au.

Gold winners include: AFL Live for Apple Watch, Best Connected Device & Wearable Tech - Telstra / Outware, Fradio, Entertainment & Leisure – Guvera, CommBank App for Tablet, Fintech - Commonwealth Bank, Domain Home Price Guide, Best New Service or Application - Domain Group, Telstra Perth Fashion Festival, Fashion Tech - Telstra Perth Fashion Festival / Alive, Royal Easter Show, Family -  Royal Agricultural Society of NSW / Mobiddiction and Vote Victoria, Ed Tech- Victorian Electoral Commission / Mnet Mobile.

The AUS [app] Design Awards form part of the design summit tour series including the US, AUS and UK App Design Awards, recognising innovation and design within the digital and app ecosystem and leading the charge to accelerate transformation through design.

Winners of the Best Studio awards and Design Champion will be announced at next Wednesday's presentation. Mr Bergin thanked and commended Advisory Panel members for their ongoing support as ambassadors and curators in addition to their judging role.
