Project Overview

We created a storybook app which doubles as a screening tool. This can be operated by any adult, without previous training. As a screening tool for children, the app is more accurate, faster to operate and far more engaging than any previous One Sight method. It can also be downloaded by any child care worker to operate a OneSight quality screening anywhere in Australia.

Project Brief

OPSM's charity, One Sight sets up clinics in remote and underprivileged low-socioeconomic communities to help raise the standard of eye health.
However, with one in four children having a vision problem and over half of these going undetected, demand is great. With limited resources, OneSight needed something that would make the clinic process more efficient so they could achieve a greater number of screenings.

Project Need

We created a storybook app which doubles as a screening tool. This can be operated by any adult, without previous training. As a screening tool for children, the app is more accurate, faster to operate and far more engaging than any previous One Sight method. It can also be downloaded by any child care worker to operate a OneSight quality screening anywhere in Australia.
We partnered with the department of Optometry and Vision Sciences at The University of Melbourne to develop screenings which were state of the art and customised to Onesight's unique needs.

The Penny the Pirate One Sight screening is set to become the standard children's eye screening tool and has allowed the charity to operate clinics faster and more accurately than ever before.

Due to overwhelming demand for One Sight screenings the app is also being offered to schools and community centres, outside of the charity's current operating capacity.

User Experience

The app requires no previous training in order to operate - Significantly reducing the volunteer training requirements.
It can be downloaded to any tablet device - Allowing it to travel anywhere in Australia without the support of a full crew of volunteers and screening gear.
It has state of the art screenings designed on the latest children's eye health research - No longer out dated screenings which were designed for adults. These screenings target the vision issues which are unique to children causing clinic accuracy to increase.
Creative execution saved time and increased engagement with kids being screened
